The Colonsay General Store    www.colonsayshop.net

The general Store sells local produce including salad leaves, Colonsay honey, as well as free range eggs. Off licence sales are also available. A good selection of wines is supplied by leading London wine merchants, Bibendum.  You can pre-order your supplies by phone (01951 200266) or via the website and have them waiting in your cottage for your arrival! 


The Pantry

Sells freshly baked bread, cakes and biscuits. Also serves light lunches and suppers.

The Bookshop

Located at Port Mhor, the bookshop specialises in Scottish publications but also has a supply of good holiday reading and children’s books with a distinctly Highland flavour. The Bookshop is open most days 2 until 5pm. Tel 01951 200232.


The Old Waiting Room Gallery
 

Located at the harbour, the gallery holds regular art exhibitions of both local and visiting artists throughout the year.  Details of opening hours available from the Estate Office.  Tel 01951 200211

SERVICES


Doctor

We have a doctor and a district nurse on the island. The surgery hours are listed at the back of the folder. The doctor is on call 24 hours seven days a week. In the event of a medical emergency, an air ambulance will lift the patient to the appropriate hospital in Glasgow - the service is incredibly quick and efficient. Tel 01951 200328

There is a flight on Tuesdays and Thursdays, morning and afternoon to and from Oban.  There is also a flight from Colonsay to Islay on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to connect with the Flybe 0940 flight to Glasgow.  Currently, Hebridean Air are trialling a weekend flight to Colonsay on Friday and Sunday afternoons.


Internet access

There is free wifi access available at The Colonsay hotel.


Church Services

There are two churches on the island, the Parish church at Scalasaig and the Baptist church next to the school. Both extend a warm welcome to visitors to join in their services. The services are conducted by a visiting minister and are held most Sundays.
